Hey there, my name is Aleksei mzhachev, or just Alex, and I'm 14 years old.
I remember trying kayaking when I was 10, such a long time ago, at first before I went to my first day paddling I expected nothing much and go just for the hell of it but very quickly I realized how much I loved the sport. My love for the water and the nature of this beautiful world quickly grew. That was just the start, it got me going because I had nothing to do and my parents wanted me to get out of the house more. Ironicly, now they can't keep me in the house.
I'm quite a tall person, I'm 191cm (6ft 4in) and because of this, I have always been told that I can't do certain sports or I should do certain sports. I have been told that I shouldn't do gymnastics, which I have tried. I enjoyed the experience, but I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon! A sport I have been told I'd be good at is rugby. I have nothing against rugby, I was part of my school rugby team but I soon found myself getting bored very quickly.
I plan on exploring and pushing the limits of kayaking and showing people that it doesn't matter what you look like or what people say you can or cannot do. Since I am at the upper limits of how big you can get for kayaking and I wanna show that it doesn't matter what people think, you can do what you want. Not only that, I also want to explore this beautiful world and see what most people don't get to see.
I've competed in many competitions throughout Ireland and have medals from these amazing experiences and achievements. The main disciplines I'm involved in are whitewater/creeking, this one really gets the blood pumping, and freestyle, it's fun counter part! My biggest step I've taken for this kayaking, besides starting the sport, was earlier this year (2016), I went to the Irish freestyle team tryouts and was put a spot on the team, I felt very proud and just was bouncing everywhere, but sadly I was 1 year under the junior age to go to the european championships. Luckily next year (2017) I'll be of age to go to the World championships but it wont be easy.
This is where I need your help, my parents aren't from Ireland but I was born here and they don't have the funds to help me, they've done so much for me already and tried their hardest. I'm so thankful of them. I need new gear and safety equipment, which sadly isn't cheap, training for the worlds, which I cannot properly recieve in Ireland, travel expenses for competitions and for training days and finally the cost of the Worlds it's self. The breakdown of the costs are like this:
Gear = 3,000 euro
Training = 3,500 euro
World championships(accommodation,food,Travel etc) = 6,000 euro
membership for ICU (lifetime) = 400 euro
(the remaining is to pay for the 12% fee on the website)

I am thankful for anything and even if you can't donate, if you could please share this, it would help out a lot.
At the end of all of this I am hoping I can make my career out of this and do what I've always wanted to do.
Thank you so much!
